The City has been home to commodities trading of many kinds over the centuries. Two of its oldest, and remaining markets are Smithfield which still supplies much of London with meat and poultry, and Leadenhall, which has become more of a high end retail venue. Smithfield has continued to trade throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. Leadenhall has fallen silent.
